Course Information
This training course is for people who intend to find work in the Audio/Media industry and is structured around three main areas: Skills Development, Work Based Learning and Employment Preparation
Sessions take place in our recording studios and focus on how to use audio equipment including mixing consoles, microphones and signal processors as well as learning about computer based recording, digital editing and developing listening skills
Teaching Methods
Trainees are taught in small groups; there is a mixture of discussion, practical and written work
Assessment Methods
Assessment is through skill based development achieved during work based and recording sessions
Course Enrichment Opportunities
Trainees will work with outside groups and professional organisations
Progression Opportunities
A practical course, designed to lead directly into employment in areas like live sound, recording studios, arts event co-ordination, music-based youth work and community radio
Work Based Learning
A vital part of developing new skills is applying them to real work situations. Part of the training course is spent working on sessions in our studios. These range from music performances, filmed and recorded for our WebTV series, to recording sessions for choirs, bands, voice-overs and working on theatre productions and live performances in technical and administrative roles
Every trainee does some part-time work experience through the year and takes part in a dedicated week of work experience
