OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical in Media
(extended certificate) OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Media (introductory diploma/ diploma). During your Pre-Entry Assessment we will work with you to establish the best range of courses and levels to help you achieve your goals

1 year for OCR Level 2
2 years for OCR Level 3
Entry Requirements
An interest in the Media industry is essential plus 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above; these must include Mathematics and English Language
Course Information
Our courses in Audio Media Production provide the opportunity to explore sound engineering, music production, radio and TV production and online media. You will learn through taking part in projects that include recording radio programmes and broadcasting on the College radio station, producing live music sessions for radio broadcast and WebTV, live music events and making music recordings
Teaching Methods
Students are taught in small groups; there is a mixture of discussion, practical and written work. Students undertake lesson preparation tasks as well as formal essay homework and exam practice
Assessment Methods
You will record activities in a blog, providing evidence of achievements for the qualification
Course Combination Suggestions
You can combine Audio Media Production with any other Level 2 or Level 3 programme that you are qualified to study
Typical combinations are English, Psychology and Sociology. Other academic combinations include French, Spanish, German and Mathematics. Vocational combinations include Business and Performing Arts Practice
A range of other combinations are possible. We are happy to advise on subject combinations for proposed university courses
Every individual timetable includes Independent Living Skills, Orientation & Mobility, IT skills and development along with the options to learn braille and play sport

Progression Opportunities
For OCR Level 2, students may progress onto OCR Level 3 Audio Media Production or head into employment
After studying OCR Level 3, most people go on to Higher Education, including degrees in Media Studies and Audio Production. Apprenticeships are another possibility
Work Based Learning
Both courses are employment focused and work based learning makes up a significant part of the programme. This could be through working on commercial recording sessions, live events and projects in the Chapel arts centre
Every student does some part-time work experience through the year and takes part in a dedicated week of work experience
