06 Oct | Gift Aid Awareness Day
10/6/2022 12:00:00 AM
Gift Aid is a tax relief scheme run by the UK Government that enables charities to reclaim tax that has been paid on a donation if the donor is eligible.
The RNC claims 25p in every pound that is donated to us by eligible donors who have declared their eligibility, either online or on a paper form. This means, for every £100 we receive we can claim an additional £25 from HMRC at no extra cost to our donors.
This really does add up and makes a real difference to our vital work with visually impaired young people. In the last financial year (August 21 – July 22), we claimed just over £3260 extra in Gift Aid to support our students.
RNC will always ask if you can Gift Aid your donation when you click on our Donate button (via the website) or via Facebook but you can also download a Gift Aid form from our website by clicking
here
. We can then use this declaration for any future donations or until you advise us that you are no longer eligible for Gift Aid.
To qualify for Gift Aid, you must be a UK taxpayer and have paid enough tax to cover the amount being claimed by any charities you have donated to in a given year. You can check the full details of the scheme by visiting the HMRC website
here
.
Gift Aid-qualifying donations really do go a lot further for our charity and we appreciate this extra income not just today but all year round. To all our donors, thank you from everyone here at RNC, especially the students!
