Professional Development Day (PDD)

We invite any professional working with a young person who is aged 12-25, with a visual impairment (VI), to come and learn about how RNC, the UK’s leading Further Education College for people with sight loss, works to support students as they move into higher education, employment and/or independent living.
The day is free to attend and will include a tour of the College campus where you will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the day, as you meet our students and staff. Lunch and refreshments will be provided free of charge and we will end the day with a Q&A session with our current students, Director of Learning and a member of our registry team.

Highlights of the day include;
- Practical support and advice about working with someone who has VI
- Understanding the specialist support available both inside and outside of the classroom, including assistive technology, mobility and braille
- Seeing the UK’s first Sports Academy, specifically for people with VI and how it includes provision for elite athletes as well as beginners
- Visiting Europe’s first Cisco Networking Academy, specifically for people with VI
This development day will provide a great learning experience for anyone working with a young person with VI, and would be especially useful for SEN Teaching Assistants, Careers Advisors, Transition Support Workers and Social Workers.’
