Young Enterprise at RNC
Young Enterprise gives you the chance to learn about business, enterprise and the world of work through running your own business. We believe that you can learn by doing, therefore we support you in creating a real business, with real products or services, real stakeholders and a real board of members covering different roles.
You will work in a team with other RNC students, having to produce and sell your products or services in real life to members of the public. We will encourage you to attend Young Enterprise competitions with other colleges, schools and universities to deliver presentations about your business and its products or services. Along with your team, you will attend trade fairs and sell to the general public.
Being part of Young Enterprise will equip you with skills that you can use in your life after RNC. You will learn to work more effectively with others, have experience working with customers and suppliers, improve your verbal and written communication skills, apply new IT skills, learn how to solve problems, meet deadlines, manage others and develop your confidence.
In the past, Young Enterprise teams at RNC have created and sold compilation CDs, ironing services, oil burners and jewellery, and printed t-shirts. In 2014 Alex, Scott, Haydar, Serkan and Colin formed iAGames where they produced a braille board game entitled Unlucky 7. The team won ‘Best Presentation’ at the Hereford and Worcestershire finals and even got a spot on BBC Hereford and Worcester radio.
Alex, Managing Director of iAGames, won the Young Enterprise Journey award for the West Midlands region, due to his personal and academic development since joining Young Enterprise.
Former student Steve
In 2007/2008, Steve was the Marketing Director for the Young Enterprise team Seasonal Spirits. The company produced a 30 minute educational DVD about the equipment and software that can be used to aid those with a visual impairment. The DVD was sold to schools and local businesses in Herefordshire.
After leaving RNC, Steve went on to graduate from Birmingham City University with a degree in Business Management. He now runs his own t-shirt printing business.
