Accommodation and Support for Students aged 18 – 25
RNC provides you with a supportive, enabling residential environment that will develop your confidence to study independently and, just as importantly, to live independently.
Living away from home
We understand that living away from home can be daunting, but it’s also an exciting and life changing experience and we’re here to help and support you every step of the way.
During your Pre-Entry Assessment we will talk to you about living at RNC and put you together with other students of a similar age and with similar interests, so it’s never hard to make friends and find things to do.
Where will I live?
A range of accommodation options are available to you. In Orchard Hall, all rooms enjoy en-suite facilities with shared living and kitchen areas; in addition there are a number of self-contained flats. The flats have their own kitchen and living areas and provide the opportunity for you to experience an increased level of independent living.
Students assessed at any time during their journey through RNC as having a higher level of independence skills may also be accommodated in The Lodges. These are four-bedroom accommodation units with shared kitchen, dining room and living area facilities. There is a bathroom and a shower room in each Lodge.
Residential Support
Our outstanding Residential Team is on hand 24 hours a day to provide support and ensure that moving away from home and living more independently is a smooth and exciting process for you.
Wellbeing Support Officers
RNC’s Wellbeing Support Officers (WSOs) provide dedicated individual personal support to students with additional physical needs, which will be identified during your Pre-Entry Assessment. This may include personal care, additional mobility/access support, completing daily therapy routines and enabling you to develop skills to maximise your future independence.
Getting Around Campus
You will have one to one sessions with RNC’s Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Team, who will help you to familiarise yourself with the RNC campus so you are able to quickly get your bearings. Our Residential Team is also on hand to help you learn routes until you have developed your confidence.
