Bonjour, je m’appelle Claire. I’ve worked as a French teacher at RNC for nearly 10 years and love working here! Before I came to RNC I worked in a mainstream school, for Barclays Bank, and for an environmental charity. I studied French and Third World Studies at University and spent a year working in France. I also taught English in Japan.
I now have three children aged 10, 7 and 7 (identical twins!) who often join in activities at RNC. One year they even learnt some Braille with our students.
When I’m not at work, I love gardening and growing my own food. My husband and I are renovating our house at the moment so I am learning a lot about building. For fun I love dancing, especially jive. I enjoy all sorts of music and like using music in my French lessons.
I’m involved in different things as well as French at RNC, so you might see me in Spanish as a verifier. I also have a tutor group and help students with their EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
If you come to RNC to study, my advice is to get involved in as many different activities as you can inside and outside college. It’s a great place to make new friends. I would especially recommend taking up a language with one of our brilliant Modern Foreign Language team – but maybe I am just a little bit biased!
