Laura is a current student, she began her studies at RNC in 2015.

Laura is 17 from Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire. She has a range of complex eye conditions which include Retinal Dystrophy, Nystagmus, Astigmatism and Hypermetropia (long-sightedness).

In July 2015 we had our new student conference where Laura’s mum Carol talked about why she thought RNC would be the best place for her daughter and what she hoped Laura’s future would be like.

Laura started at RNC as an ASPIRE student in 2015 and spends every Wednesday morning at a local outdoor activity centre doing gardening and general maintenance tasks. Later on in her course she will be concentrating more on customer service skills within RNC Enterprises as she likes meeting new people and is keen to improve her money handling skills.

Laura first met her friend James at an Action for Blind camp held at RNC (Royal National College for the Blind) in 2013 and for the next two years they came to RNC together for various Have a Go weekends and activities before deciding that they wanted to come to study at RNC.
