We have been given generous donation from the Blue Spark Foundation and will now house new beehives and teach the next generation of beekeepers.

Kerry Hunter, Teacher in Charge of the ASPIRE course at the College spoke of how the donation will help students reach their potential.

‘We are excited to be introducing the bee project. It’s something that will really challenge the students, help them to realise their potential and learn new skills.’

The College has an extensive work based learning curriculum that is designed to focus on real outcome opportunities for students that are blind or partially sighted. Alongside this, students have exposure to work placements and regular work experience, giving them the opportunity to put their skills into practice.

Thanks to Swarms and Bees, a local Hereford company, the students have had some initial training. They have been able to learn about working with bees, harvesting honey, and making and selling different and exciting products.

‘Our students will love learning about and working with bees. There are so many wonderful products that can be made with natural produce and we are looking forward to selling them to the public.’

The new programme has created a buzz around the college!
