This year’s RNC students have raised the educational bar when it comes to A Level results at The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) in Hereford with a 100% pass rate!

Whilst national figures are showing that overall passes at A Level have dropped for the first time in 32 years, RNC is celebrating one of its most successful results days in its 142-year history. Ten students with ambitions to go into Higher Education have been accepted into university.

“Students at the RNC have considerable challenges in studying for advanced level examinations. Can you imagine tackling a complex geometry problem without being able to see the diagram, or producing an Art portfolio when you are totally blind? However there are smiling faces today with a 100% pass rate at A Level achieved by our students including a grade A in A Level Art!” said Principal Sheila Tallon. “The students should be proud of themselves. We certainly are!”

RNC Prom Queen Lucy commented “I’m very happy with my results and am another step forward on the way to achieving my dream of being a clinical psychologist.” As well as just completing her AS Levels in Psychology, Sociology and Maths Lucy is also Chair of the Student Rep Group and plays VI Boccia for RNC.
