WILL you make the right choice?

Will Writing Fortnight 2-13 November 2020

Over half of the adults in the UK don’t have a Will* but Wills aren’t just for older people, those who are sick or parents – they’re important for all of us because life, as we all now know, can be very unpredictable! Thinking about how to look after your loved ones after you’ve gone, saves them extra stress and you’ll be making sure your money goes to the right people, including any charities you support.

The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) has teamed up with two local firms – Mundy’s Estate Planning & Probate Lawyers and Harrison Clark Rickerbys (HCR) Solicitors – to offer a professional Will writing service in return for donations to RNC. The RNC really needs extra support at this time due to major additional costs associated with the pandemic eg PPE and additional IT costs.

Appointments must be booked for Will Writing Fortnight between 2-13 November 2020 and you’ll be offered an online or ‘in person’ socially distanced appointment (depending on current restrictions at the time) to get your affairs in order, in the knowledge that you’re in safe hands.

‘Making a Will can seem a terrifying prospect but for many people, knowing that they have attended to matters gives a sense of relief, not foreboding,’ explains Alan Hing, consultant lawyer with Mundy’s. ‘I would encourage anyone who has not already done so to take up our offer and help RNC at the same time.’

Lucy Willetts, Paralegal from HCR says:‘We are delighted to be supporting RNC’s Will Writing Fortnight for the second year running. Senior Associate Solicitor, Jane Erlam, and myself, will again be giving up our time in support of the charity.’

The professionals involved are giving their time free of charge to support the RNC charity so suggest donations of £100 or more for a single Will and £180 for straightforward mirror Wills (eg husband and wife), a considerable discount on their full fees. And if clients are able to gift aid their donations, RNC will then be able to claim an additional 25% on their donation. Gift Aid paperwork will be given to you at the time of your appointment.

This service is only available for consultations booked during RNC Wills Fortnight and there is a strict limit on the number of appointments available so bookings will be made on a first come, first served basis.
