What does the course involve?

This qualification is designed to prepare you for work in a business and administrative role, gaining theoretical knowledge and understanding, along with performing a wide range of general administrative tasks through working in a real office environment (RNC Office Services).

You will work on commissions received from internal departments and external organisations, which allow you to develop your skills and deliver quality products and services to deadlines.

This is a flexible qualification that can be tailored to meet your individual needs. You can choose from a range of units that will meet both your needs and those of prospective employers.

Units studied may include the following:

• Communicating in a business environment
• Making and receiving telephone calls
• Meeting and welcoming visitors
• Using a filing system and archiving information
• Using office equipment
• Solving business problems
• Using email and word processing software
• Research information
• Organising report data
• Minute taking
• Supporting the organising of an event
• Audio transcription 

Teaching methods

We have a team of experienced training and assessment staff who deliver the required theoretical knowledge and practical skills, along with strategies to complete tasks. Also providing tutoring, mentoring and preparation for realistic employment in business and administration roles. You will also benefit from having professional marketers coming in to deliver telephone research / telesales marketing training.

Requirements

An interest in business and administrative skills would be an advantage; however entry requirements will be discussed individually during assessment.

Work based learning

You will have weekly experience within RNC Office Services which includes reception duties and customer service, operating telephone switchboards, promotion, design and production of materials.

Duration 

One to three years, depending on the individual.  

Where will it take me?

Upon completion of this qualification you can go into paid employment in office environments, taking on a variety of roles. Students have gone on to work in local authorities, charities, retail, estate agents, schools and hotel receptions.
