18 Aug | 'The Vibration Continues' at Hereford Cathedral
18/08/2021 00:00:00
The Vibration Continues
A unique and exciting piano concert, will take place on Wednesday 18 August at 14:30 and 19:30 at Hereford Cathedral. 'The Vibration Continues' is a free-flowing, improvisation based collaboration between pianists Rachel Starritt and Cara Tivey which has been inspired by the surroundings, artefacts and spaces within Hereford Cathedral.
The duo first met in 2012 when Rachel, a student at RNC, joined a recreational music group, led by Cara, then a teacher at the College. It was during this time that their musical relationship was established and since then, they have been able to spontaneously create music together whenever they have met. Their combined influences are broad and various, spanning Classical, Pop, Hip-Hop and Jazz and reflecting their very different musical backgrounds.
Both musicians are classically trained and Cara is a highly successful session musician, recording and touring around the world with chart topping bands, most notably Blur during their 'Parklife' era. After her time at RNC, Rachel went on to study music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has subsequently made the most of opportunities to develop her professional practice. Rachel is a member of The British Paraorchestra as well as establishing her own jazz trio.
The shared improvisations within 'The Vibration Continues', which is funded by Art Council, England, have been specially created by Cara and Rachel following visits to the Cathedral throughout last year. These pieces will be played alongside a number of the duo's own compositions.
Tickets cost £15. Advance booking is essential. You can purchase via the Hereford Cathedral website
