RNC Supports Campaign for Temporary Increase to Gift Aid Scheme
Charities across the UK including The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) face an unprecedented drop in income including funds raised, caused by the Covid-19 crisis. That’s why RNC has added its name to the growing list of charities and support organisations calling for a temporary increase in Gift Aid on donations.
Backed by hundreds of charities, a boost in Gift Aid as soon as possible could mean an additional £450m to help charities continue their vital work – a true lifeline when the services they provide have never been more needed.
Charities across the UK are facing unprecedented drops in income as a result of reduced donations and cancelled challenge events so the proposed two-year Gift Aid Emergency Relief increase will help ease the biggest financial crisis the sector has ever faced.
The change would mean that a £100 donation from a UK taxpayer would increase to £133.33 for the charity once Gift Aid had been claimed, at no cost to the individual, compared to the current £125.00

Melanie Denning, Fundraising Manager, said:
‘Like many other charities we have seen a negative impact on voluntary donations at the same time as our costs have increased due to the impact of Covid. We are standing in solidarity with those charities to support the campaign for Gift Aid Emergency Relief. Increasing Gift Aid relief for a while is an easy way to deliver more income to charities that really need it at this time.’
