RNC Hereford's Blind Football team shines in Belgium
RNC Hereford's Blind Football team made a crucial trip to Charleroi, Belgium, on Saturday 3 May 2025, for Round 4 of the European Blind Football League (EBFL). As current European title holders, the pressure was on, with the team needing two vital wins to stay in contention for this season's championship.
And win they did! RNC Hereford delivered outstanding performances, securing two emphatic victories. Their first challenge of the day saw them face Borussia Dortmund, a match, Head Coach Adam Bendall, described as tough despite the impressive 5-0 win. The game certainly had its moments, including an unexpected electrical unit explosion at half-time, causing a temporary power outage and a lot of smoke! Undeterred, RNC returned to the pitch to complete their dominant performance. Four goals came from the prolific Efe Shimwell, with Rainbow Mbuangi adding another to the tally.

Reflecting on the Dortmund match, Coach Bendall shared his satisfaction:
'The last two goals were really pleasing, it's how we want to play blind football. The first half was a bit scrappy and Dortmund gave us a tough game but it was good to score those first early goals to get our young players bedded in. It was a good performance overall and I saw more of our philosophy and style in play.'
The momentum continued into their second game against Pirsos Thessaloniki, with RNC securing another resounding victory. Efe Shimwell once again led the charge with three goals, and Rainbow Mbuangi added a fourth, sealing another crucial win for Hereford.
