Volunteers inspire students on garden centre trip
RNC garden volunteers, Phil and Paul, treated business students and student gardeners to a special end-of-term trip to a local garden centre. It was an opportunity to experience a professional setup and get some inspiration for future College projects.
Students have worked hard all year growing plants and organising plant sales and were particularly interested in comparing the prices and variety of plants on offer at the garden centre. This visit gave them some great ideas for how they can improve their plant sales next year. Having the opportunity to browse the plants and garden ornaments sparked lots of ideas.
The day ended with a wonderful surprise from Phil and Paul, who kindly treated everyone to lunch to say farewell to students Sonali and Katie, who were finishing their studies at RNC this year.
Phil and Paul’s expertise and dedication as volunteers are invaluable. Their passion for gardening has helped students gain a wide range of skills, from plant knowledge and care to marketing customer service, and sales. Thank you, Phil and Paul!
