Students embrace French culture in Lyon
What a brilliant week it was before Easter for our students on their cultural trip to Cité scolaire René Pellet in Lyon. From start to finish, they’ve squeezed in so many experiences and made memories that will stay with them for a long time.

The adventure kicked off early on Day 1 with an early morning start at Heathrow airport, where they flew out to Lyon. On arrival, they jumped straight into the French way of life.
They were warmly welcomed into the school and through the week had the chance to join a variety of lessons, including English, basket weaving, landscape gardening, and business. It was a fantastic way to experience everyday school life in France.
Sport was also a big highlight as an RNC team took part in a Goalball tournament, competing against three French teams.
The group navigated public transport to get around with the help of tactile maps and extremely supportive assistance staff.
Their time in the city has been a whirlwind. They’ve enjoyed some shopping, visited the stunning Basilique Notre‑Dame de Fourvière, stepped back in time at the Roman Amphitheatre, and spent time at the Museum of Lyon in the Second World War.
And of course, they made the most of French food and café culture. From coffees and delicious crêpes to restaurant meals, they’ve embraced every opportunity to enjoy local flavours.
After such a full and exciting few days, the group travelled home safely for a well‑earned rest!
