At the Royal National College for the Blind our vision is 'Education, Employment, Empowerment' and we are committed to a world where every person with a visual impairment has true equality.
Located in Hereford, RNC is a further education college and charity with a national and international reputation. We offer academic and vocational qualifications in a wide range of subject areas and provide specialist learning and residential support to students who have visual impairments and other disabilities. Our residential provision is rated as Outstanding.
, an integral part of the College, is an international Paralympic, leisure and fitness centre open to the public.
We are looking for Trustees who can bring a wide range of skills to the Board. Applications would be particularly welcome from people with a background and experience in business and commerce, further or special education, and fundraising. We aim to strengthen the diversity of our Board and applications from women, people with disabilities and people from black and ethnic backgrounds are particularly welcome.
We are also seeking to appoint an independent, volunteer Director of the College's subsidiary company, RNC Enterprises, whose activities include the management of the public gym and recreational facilities.
As a trustee you are expected to attend six Board meetings each year and be a member of at least one committee. Some remote attendance may be possible. You will experience collective responsibility, how to challenge effectively, with the opportunity of chairing committees in the future. This is a voluntary role, however full induction and training is provided, and participation in College events and learning walks are encouraged. Appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks.
For further information about this opportunity, please contact Jill Shechter, Clerk to the Governors via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
